I believe that every EAL student has the right to learn in their own way, taught by a teacher who believes in them and connects with them on a personal level. I hope to give students the tools they require to achieve their goals by planning engaging lessons, making sure they understand, and encouraging them throughout our time together.

I aim to bring an open-mind and a positive attitude to every class I teach, as I want students to be comfortable in class and confident in what I am teaching them and in their own abilities. Throughout lessons, I plan to encourage students to learn by planning a variety activities to cover a wide range of learning styles. I also plan to take the time needed to explain activities for those who may not understand a concept as quickly as others may. I believe that feedback is extremely important, so I will give students summative and formative feedback and assessments as often as possible so that they know how they can improve. Students will also be requested to provide me with feedback, as I want to ensure I adapt to their unique needs.

My goal as a English as an additional language teacher is to ensure that the students I teach are comfortable in their learning environment and feel as though they have a teacher that will listen to whatever they have to say or any concerns they may be worried about. Being a teacher is about both teaching and learning, and I plan to never stop learning. As I grow and learn from my students and the people around me, I hope to evolve and be able to keep updating my teaching philosophy along the way.
